The Irish Dental Council requires that all dentists carry out Continuing Professional Development in Medical Emergencies including Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPD).  This is one of three areas  in which the Dental Council expects all dentists to be proficient and recommends at least 10 hours training in every 5 year cycle.  See IDA guidelines here.

dentist emergencyWhile the Dental Association offer training in CPR at a cost of €195 per member participant and €390 for non-members, Frontline Medical, experts in CPR training, can offer the same course, delivered at your surgery, for only €120 per participant (provided a minimum of 5 attendees).

Overview

The course provides dentists and the entire dental team with the skills and confidence to effectively manage life threatening and common medical emergencies in the practice.

Course content:

Basic Life Support for adults and children
Choking
Management of acute anaphylaxis
Use of Emergency Equipment (oxygen, airway adjuncts and drugs)
Cardiac Arrest Rhythms
Use of the Automated External Defibrillator (if the surgery has one)
Recognising and responding appropriately to asthma, diabetes, fainting, epilepsy and myocardial infarction

Adult CPR, Child CPR, Infant CPR, Use of a CPR pocket mask, Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on an Adult, Management of Foreign Body Airway Obstruction in Adult, Child and Infant, Aspirin administration for suspected Cardiac chest pain, Recovery Position. Critical Incident Stress Management, Use of Advanced Airway, 2 Rescuer CPR (Adult, Child & Infant), Oral Suctioning, Oxygen administration, Using a defibrillator on a Child victim

Location: Your premises

Certificate: Frontline Medical certificate valid for 1 year.

Cost: €120 per particpant

Our Instructors

All of our instructors are registered with the OFAAA and Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council.  Our course is run in accordance with HSA guidelines. Full certification is provided on successful completion of the course. FETAC level 5 Certification is valid for two years. Each course is subject to course booking conditions.
